Nice looking car! I look every night but as you mentioned, prices are stupid. These are still just cars and cars depreciate with age and use.

Not specifically looking for this but I've noticed a few 2007 Box S's for sale in the mid $20K range. I remember test driving a local, decent 2007 S 4 1/2 years ago that was for sale at local indy for $17.5K. Other than needing tires, it was in pretty nice shape. I didn't bite back then and ended up buying a 65k mile, 2003 996Cab with over $15K of documented maintenance (including LN IMS) for $19.2K from a long time neighbor.

I often wonder what the 911 would sell for today but of course, any decent replacement would be dumb money.

Yeah, it's a great time to sell but hurts if you want to replace or upgrade.

Our plan was to wait until Dec - Jan when convertible prices are at the bottom, but in today's mkt who knows if that will hold? This one came up, it checked his boxes so he decided to pull the trigger. It was a mkt correct price with very low mi and 1 owner. He still has a stack of ca$h left over from the C4S sale, so he's happy. Under normal conditions with any 987.2, you have to move quickly when you find what you like. That's more true now in this inflation generated mkt.

Husker, how much did your friend paid for the white 987.2? It was a nice looking car!

Low to mid $40s. Felt that was a good price considering the other cars we saw were a couple thousand higher and had 30-40K mi. It is very clean. Crazy times - that car would have been mid-$30s in early 2020. In late Feb '20, I had my eye on a nice '12 Blk Ed Box S w/ 30K mi in L.A. Was going to offer him $32K but held off b/c I figured the sports car mkt would go down the crapper with the onset of COVID. Boy was I wrong. Today the asking price on that car would be $45K.

And prices don't seem to be slowing down, even with winter almost here. Amazing.

Well I teased this one in my "History Repeating?" thread but have been holding off until I had it secured and the $$$ transferred (been chasing this one for 2.5 wks). That happened today.

1989 928 S4
56K mi
2 owner CA & NV car
5 speed

Been sitting for quite a while (yrs) and needs the ususal 928 maintenance. Having it shipped here. Will clean the gas tank and go from there. Seller claims it's in very nice cond. I plan to keep this one 2-3 yrs and enjoy it. The Mistress gave me a taste for 928s but I didn't get to fully enjoy her. Hope to do that with this one. Plus the Wheeler Dealer mkt is going to be shaky for at least 2 yrs as the mkt corrects itself - there will be a big down turn before things start getting better. So I'm going to sit it out and enjoy this S4. I might be paying a bit much for this one just before the big mkt slide down, but it's a 5 spd so it will always be valuable. And I think 928s are still under valued. There were only 1000 928s sold in the US in 1989. The std est is 25-30% are manuals. So how many of those 300 manuals are left? Reportedly the 89 S4 is the best of the S4 yrs.

You know what they say: it's better to have 8 in front than 6 in the rear.

Now I have to wait while the shipping gets arranged. Here are some pics.
