Help please! Transaxle serial number location?

I have an ‘03 non-S Boxster (986.2) and cannot find the serial number on the transaxle. I have found a code on the bottom that is EFD 1311.

Appreciate the help

That is your serial number/code. The code is located bottom right edge of the trans just aft of the axle flange. It can also be on the top of the bell housing. First 3 letters for the 00 and later 5 speed is EFD.

13 1 1 most likely is January 13, 2001, the date the tranny was built.

No, I don't believe so..

The invoice on my 987 gearbox repair it shows the S/N G872110020519 therefore, your tranny must have the S/N somewhere but I am not sure where, however I have seen it before..

Pretty sure that is a combination of your transmission model number shown on the under hood option sticker, G87.2/100... and the trans code 0519.

The PO's would be G86.1/...1131. The workshop manual shows the code as the only identifier on the trans. The date code/location may change on the later models as my manual is for the 04 and earlier 5 speed.

Why do you want to know the code? Basically the transmissions are the same 00-02. I believe the 03/04 5 speeds use larger bolts for the axles and that the only difference

It’s on the top of the gearbox. The numbers underneath don’t have anything to do with the serial number
