When I first joined and saw your name I thought it was a part of a bit address...go figure. It took a week or to for me to get it, and then I felt so stupid.

For me, when I joined, the other user names I would usually use were taken, so I went with the most uncreative and dull thing I could think of...initials...half assuming they too were not available, strangely they were and then the "sure, why not?" synapse fired and *poof* I'm just MWS. Yet another thing I would change if I could hit the lifetime reset button. ;)

boxfix 01-08-2018 08:30 PM

Joined the forum to learn how to fix this 03 Boxster I bought.....

Been on Pelican parts site for years with the maintenance of my 911.

Froggo 01-09-2018 12:06 AM

Some years ago we had a small farm property , 20 acres pigs and some cattle . There were no street numbers places had names , ours was Frogghollow , on account of the large pond and the many frogs in residence. So when I needed a nom de plume I became Froggo

flouese 01-09-2018 03:20 AM

Boring...
First name initial + last name = flouese

mikesz 01-09-2018 05:56 AM

Callsign of a character in a story I was writing many years ago (I never finished it, by the way). :)

I wondered about yours, I have you saved in my phone as "Chris Deserion".

Maybe you could serialize your story on a blog, it could be the next "The Martian", and if a lot of people start reading, then you would have to finish :) Just remember your 986 brothers and sisters when you hit into the big time.

Frodo 01-09-2018 09:05 AM

My path was accidental and admittedly kind of an impulsive and dumb choice. I had been lurking on the forum starting over 10 years ago (well before I got my Box in 2006), but hadn't ever bothered to register, content for a while just to absorb what others wrote. A few years later, one of my sons saw me reading some post or other and asked why I didn't join. Told him I just hadn't bothered, had never been a member of any forum before, hadn't really even figured out how to do it. (As the bad guy in Live Free or Die Hard said about Bruce Willis’s John McClane, I’m kind of a Timex watch in a digital age!)

So he elbows me aside at the computer and starts to do it for me. When he got to the point where he needed to enter a username, he asked who I wanted to be, a question I wasn't exactly prepared for. Not having really thought about it, I just sort of blurted out "Frodo", the first thing that popped into my head. (I think possibly we had recently seen one of the Lord of the Rings movies maybe?) Thought I could give it more thought later and change it down the road to something I would be happier with---didn't realize that such changes can't be done. Soooo, 1,508 posts later, I still be Frodo. It remains a goofy choice, but it's sort of grown on me over time.

jsceash 01-09-2018 09:21 AM

It's my name
jsc=Jesse eash=Eash.

dsallean 01-09-2018 11:59 AM

It’s my first initial and last name. Can’t be less creative than that.

OneBoxFan 01-09-2018 12:24 PM

I've loved 986's for years. I'm in dad mode at the moment so a 2 seater isn't really in the cards. I complain to my wife from time to time about trading in my "dad" car to a "fun" car (a 986), so for my birthday she got me Porsche sunglasses and a box fan.

Ha! So I'm OneBoxFan because that's what I have (and BoxFan was taken)

m332is 01-09-2018 02:01 PM

m332is

We had a first generation BMW e30 M3 and turned it into a race car when we added an e36 M3 to the stable. In the US the e36 M3 got 3.2 liter version of the US 2.8 liter motor while the euros got the real deal individual throttle body model that made way more power. I got license plates for that car that said 332is (as it was really just a more powerful 328is). I added the "m" and kept that screen name for most forums.

Fuzzuki 01-09-2018 05:09 PM

Wow, good question.

Back in the late 90's before internet was really popular, we formed a motorcycle riding group called the Fuzzy Riders.

We adapted the name because the founder of the group, took a photograph of our group and posted it on our web page.

This was before digital cameras were popular.
I think he took a 35mm picture and scanned the photo and posted it to the page.

In the end, the photo was very fuzzy.

We names ourselves then and there, the FUZZYRIDERS.

Then we all proceeded to pick out names for the board the pertained to the work fuzzy.

I was in love with my Suzuki, so I became Fuzzuki.

Jager 01-09-2018 06:20 PM

I was knighted a Jӓger in West Germany in 1981.

I will never forget my first ride in a 911 while I lived there. What a joy it was zipping through those twisty mountain roads.

Racer Boy 01-09-2018 06:27 PM

I raced cars for years, and when we were first dating, my now wife called me Racer Boy in a flirty email to me. That really stuck with me, so that's my handle on several forums that I'm a member of.

The Boy part is relevant, because of my very boyish, youthful appearance. I'm 56, but I look like I'm only 55.

Twin headlight Ernie 01-10-2018 05:39 AM

I'm a motorcycle guy and years ago was at a enduro in northern Wisconsin. The bike I brought for the weekend has a homemade twin headlight setup. The guy hosting the enduro was going out of his way to remember the names of the 50 plus guys there to ride. He started to call me Twin headlight Ernie as a way to remember my name. By the end of the weekend everyone else remembered me by that name too. 2HE

Nevergrowup 01-10-2018 08:15 AM

The first time I used it, I think I was registering on bmxboard. I was then in my thirties, and liked all kinds of 'alternative sports' that has an element of danger and speed. Hanging with kids half my age my philosophy was that one should not grow up to not be playful.

I try to live up to that still, even if my sport endeavours are not much these days, closing in on 47.

Lemming 01-10-2018 10:43 AM

I'm a scientist and study body weight/composition/obesity. I've measured body composition in everything from fruitflies to elephants. One of my favorite models systems was the collared lemming, having done some field research on a remote island off the coast of Greenland.

CDNIcecube 01-10-2018 04:39 PM

“CDN” because I am a proud Canadian and “icecube”, because I love winter, cold, snow and ice. I take long walks in the winter with my husky, while the wifey (and Boxster) stay warm inside....! Been using this moniker for the last, oh, 17 years!

chaiyz 01-10-2018 04:55 PM

It's my real name. My parents hated me. End of story...

kbike 01-11-2018 07:11 AM

kbike is for my BMW K100RS motorcycle. I first used a version of it when I joined one of my motorcycle forums and it has stuck.

Bald Eagle 01-11-2018 07:12 AM

Bald Eagle was my nickname in collage for slightly obviously reasons which have become much more obvious as I grew older.

Larry
The Bald Eagle

Bootlegger 01-11-2018 04:40 PM

Mine is somewhat obvious as I have been brewing my own beer for 17 years. When people come to the house and see my homemade equipment on the shelves in the garage they accuse me of being a bootlegger. I don't show them my still in the barn tho...

Timco 01-11-2018 04:44 PM

I’m Tim. I have a company. Called it Timco. I’ve seen that a few times in the wild elsewhere.

tightbox 01-11-2018 07:48 PM

double entendre

Beriaan 01-11-2018 08:02 PM

5 first letters of last name an first 2 of my first name. It was given to me by a network administrtor on my second job and used it ever since...

jb92563 01-12-2018 11:55 AM

Dad's initials plus a Zip code of a place I lived before.
I was trying to be cryptic, yet have something I could remember.

Its a lot better than when I used my initials and birthday and got hacked.

particlewave 01-12-2018 12:26 PM

Physics, quantum physics and theory have been of great interest to me since I was about 10 years old and first learned of Davisson and Germer's double slit experiment (light behaving as both particle and wave). It's still a passion of mine.
As many know, I also like purdy lights, so I guess the name fits. ;)

I tried a few screen names when registering, but they were not available. I tried this one and it was accepted, so I'm stuck with it. :D

You might appreciate this... My general premise of navigation I refer to as "Heisenberg Navigation", whereas I either know where I want to be but have no idea where I am, or I know my location but don't know where I want to go. Either way, it keeps life interesting, and perhaps the best way to spend the day in my Boxster. :)

rocartfe2 01-12-2018 05:11 PM

Some buddies and I were tired of the poor management at our work place ( government contractor). It just so happened the for the next contract award they government was forcing part of the contract to go to a smaller company.

I gathered 15 or so people to start a company to bid for the small piece of the pie. As a joke we took the current company name Tracor and just reversed it. Everything was progressing until it was time for the rubber to meet the road. The company caught wind and started asking people to sign commitment letters.

Most people don't want to be there own boss. Field Engineer 2 working for Rocart will always been a missed opportunity.

It's been a REALLY LONG TIME since I've studied this stuff, but...that's what was, at one time anyway, referred to as the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, right?? Me and physics go WAY back :D

BXTRBRU 01-13-2018 02:51 PM

Stroked & Blown 01-24-2018 09:12 AM

Had a 408 stroker (Stroked) with a supercharger (& Blown) in a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Silly & fun, but for different reasons than the box.

Paul 01-24-2018 01:19 PM

My first name was available when I joined in 2003...

maytag 03-30-2018 01:01 PM

I developed a reputation at the racetrack as the guy who could build anything with a sawzall and a die grinder.... and I always had them with me, as well as a wire feed welder and many other tools that we'd use to get somebody up and running again, so I didn't have to race just myself, hahaha.

One day a guy says to me "you're like Dan Dan the Maytag Man" ..... my first name is Dan: Maytag stuck like glue.

Benitom 03-30-2018 01:20 PM

First name last initial. Not a member of very many forums but typically use my long time PlayStation gamer tag zapatistab. I figure in a Porsche forum I should adult
