For what purpose is this light?

The top button. I've never seen it lit up. Appears to be red/green.

Pulled off the housing to install a button, and out came the connector. I don't believe it was connected because there were no lights on that particular button.

Whatisit?

In advance, thank you.

No clue, something aftermarket a previous owner butchered in and took out before selling.

It was there when I purchased it, so it wasn't removed before selling it.

What signs do you identify illustrating a butchered-in job?

TIA.

Butchered in as it doesn’t at all look like something from the factory.

Did you buy your Boxster new then? Is it RHD?
The bottom spot looks like where the interval wiper control would be located.

Second owner. LHD/USA.

No interval wiper installed... just the regular stalk.

The bottom button is connected to the Stebel Nautilus.

The top button, not a button, lights are for something. There's wires sticking out with a connector...

Anyone?

"so it wasn't removed before selling it." ... no, but whatever it was plugged into was, if it's not plugged in there any more.

It's definitely not 'factory', that's not Porsche wires or connector and those aren't buttons they are just blanks, someone has drilled holes into the blank and added the leds in the top, and whatever the bottom thing is.

I will agree. The back of it has some glue that doesn't look professional. Hmmm.

The bottom button is connected to the Stebel Nautilus.

I'll worry less now thanks to the collective intellect.

Thank you.
