Know anyone looking for a SE?

We just moved into a second place in RI, and it’s a block from the harbor. I’m going to roll the 986 into a boat and other things since it wasn’t even registered this past year. Simply no time.

I’ll get around to pics and listing it this weekend. PM me if you’d like some info. Some info in sig line.

Cheers, Tim

I'm in the market. But think I'm probably priced out.

Had a boat before?? It will make the Box look CHEAP to take care of. :-)

What kind of boat??

A hole in the water, surrounded by wood/FG/Alum into which you pour money.

I'm a long time sailor and now have a pontoon boat. It doesn't even have a bilge pump!!!!

Good thing about a Whaler is there is always a buyer. I sold my Whaler 2 years ago and I had multiple offers immediately. Sold for cash the next morning. The kids were off to college and it just wasn't getting enough use and needed a new home.

As the buyer was driving away with it my wife asked me if I was glad to see it go. I wasn't.

Instead of buying the boat you could have the same experience by getting in the shower with your clothes on and rip up $100 bills. The 2 best days of boat ownership are the day you buy it and the day you sell it!

Just kidding, couldn't resist piling on. I've never owned a boat but have wasted plenty of money on other hobbies.

I just sold my 24 ft sailboat this year. It had been on the hard for the last 3 years. Sad but relieved not to have to keep paying storage fees. Trailer is the key. Then you can store at your house if not using.
Now I watch sailing videos on U-Tube wishing I had a boat again.
Maybe I'll take up smoking instead

Good luck selling the Box. Maybe you should wait till spring to sell, except that is when boats are priced high as well

Skip the boat, and just buy the small plane.

Hi Timco and GTA,

I’m not planning on selling my 550 SE anytime soon, but just to let you know I paid 15.5k for mine in Feb 2017. 103k miles, maintenance records, excellent cosmetic condition, LN IMS, all other needed major maintenance items recently completed prior to purchase. I’ll replace the AOS for PM this winter and I’ve replaced one cooling fan thyrestor and done some other minor maintenance to bring it up to 100%.

I would not let it go for less than 20 kUSD now. It would probably take a while to sell it at that price because it would need to go to someone who is specifically looking for a 550 SE and I would anticipate the need to advertise it outside normal channels.

OH just try running a race car for a season. Probably the most fun I've ever had burning $$$$ with no apparent purpose.

Hmm, not necessarily. I have a good friend that makes an excellent living connecting car enthusiasts and/or status seekers who are buying and selling preowned high end sports cars. He always says that a car is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it and he always asks sellers - what’s the priority for this sale, time or money?

If you’re happy with your car purchase and your car brings satisfaction to you, you paid just the right price.

+1 on what you said. That’s one of the reasons I’m racing a Tony Kart instead of a sports car.

#1278 for sale in NC asking $13,999

550 SE #1278 for sale at a car dealer in NC. 111,505 miles. It has the dark gray interior and black top rather than the cocoa. Color is listed incorrectly as “meridian metallic”. No mention of maint records, IMS status, etc.

Asking price $13,999. You can find it on cars.com.

Found another one $19,995 asking in AZ

115,911 miles. Used car dealer. Doesn’t list the issue number and no pics on the listing (stock photo only). Does list as “SE” on dealer web site. Also on cars.com

Hey! Thanks. Just saw your posts. I’m so far behind with work and the east coast thing I haven’t even listed it yet. I’m at 142k and has a cool list of mods but some annoying issues. Could not run or drive any smoother or quieter. Can’t seem to upload pics to this site from phone. I’m not concerned with squeezing every last $100 out of it. More concerned with being reasonable.
