Is cable lubrication possible?
Loving the car, but one problem: Constant cable noise from depressing the clutch. I have lubed the spring in the clutch pedal and that's not it ... the sound runs along the car to the back. Is is possible to lube the actual cable(s)?
It's an annoying sound in an otherwise pleasant car ...

The clutch is entirely hydraulic operated, there is no cable........

Lol! Well that settles that! I just can't believe that this (now) heavily lubed spring on the clutch pedal would be making this sound.

I recorded it but unfortunately there doesn't appear to be a way to attach or embed the soundbite. Its a higher pitched creaky/tinny noise coming from the area inside of the rear tire. The noise is created during depression and release of the clutch pedal.

Miatas make a squeak sometimes when shifting and it is the lever on the slave cylinder that pushes on the clutch fork, and is solved with a little white lithium grease. On the Miata it is pretty easy to get too, on the boxster it would be tougher to reach. I've never heard of it happening before on a boxster, but the location you describe is the right place.

After going under the rear and having a pint-sized assistant depress the clutch, I determined that the sound is not coming off of the shift cable but from the inside of that cable insertion point. The question is: 'is this harmful?' I'm not sure if this is the area of a release bearing or some other part ....
