These days you would be better off starting with a stock 996TT engine. Back when this project was done, perhaps not.

in my humble opinion

the riskiest part would be choosing to use steel inserts instead of the L&N Nikkies for roughly the same price..

how about the 'corrosion' or the closed deck - what about coolant passages? probably tied to the need for a rebuild ...
