Rear Spoiler question on manual switch

I have a minor issue with my rear spoiler since I was rear ended last month. It doesn't fully retract the last 3/8 inch by itself. It doesn't bind on anything and it doesn't look like there are any obstructions. In fact I can manually push the spoiler in the last little bit with no problems. After pushing it all the way down, when I drive on the highway, the spoiler goes up and down automatically just fine and stops the 3/8 before going all the way down. The dash light for the spoiler comes on when I turn the key on and goes out and stays out while driving.

So I'm going to have that looked at by the body shop, since it will be part of my insurance claim. Here's the question. If I manually raise the spoiler and go out and drive at high speeds, the spoiler automatically retracts (except for that last 3/8). Is the automatic retraction after manually raising the spoiler normal on a 2003 S? A search seems to indicate it is and cars seen at the track parked with their spoilers raised have deactivated the Circuit. But I'd like to confirm that so I can get everything fixed that needs fixing.

Garage
It appears to be normal. That's the way it works on mine.

Yes, its normal for the spoiler to retract automatically (whether it raised automatically or manually).
