How Many Miles Are On Your 986/987?

Our in-house Boxster "Carrera" has roughly 80k. It does not have the original engine, thanks to our tech article on the Carrera engine swap.

Post up yours below with how many miles are on the chassis and if you've ever had any major engine work done.

110,000 miles on our MY2004 S. Runs great and uses next to no oil. Hope to have it for a long time.

Does have a Pedro/RS Tune IMS DOF.

Just replaced the trailing arms, but the rest of the suspension seems to have a lot more life in it.

MWS 07-18-2017 10:46 AM

Apx 43,000 mi, MY01. Just standard annual maintenance with exception of water pump and IMS upgrade (for piece of mind).

204,XXX 2002 Red S. I bought the car last year for $6k, dumped 3k into the cam chain adjuster. I believe this engine is the original, p.o. didn't know much. I have put 10,000 miles on it since I bought it and I drive the s**t out of it. I am hoping that one day it blows up and then I can either replace with a 3.8 or go LS3 on it.

fusionist 07-18-2017 12:32 PM

28k, 2003 S. I got the IMS solution and a new water pump as preventative.

Chuck W. 07-18-2017 12:34 PM

30,400 miles 2001 S original engine & IMS no major work.

Oldcarguy 07-18-2017 02:02 PM

Just back from an afternoon drive :) 106,375 miles. Clutch and preventive maint water pump, LNE classic IMSB, etc at 103k. AFAIK from maint records provided only regular / expected maint and replacements performed during the car's life. No major issues of any kind (knock on wood).

68,xxx on my 2003 S all put on it by me! It's had the IMSB replaced with an LN Single Row Pro at 42k, still on the original clutch. Added ROW M030 Sport Suspension at 65k, not because the original suspension was worn but because I wanted it. Also added an under drive pulley, Mantis deep sump and stainless steel flexible brake lines.

98 with 122,000 miles. LN engineering dual row installed along with new clutch at 62,000 miles 6 years ago. Besides that AOS, front motor mount, water pump and low temp T-stat 3 years ago.

rexcramer 07-18-2017 06:20 PM

The 97 has 26700 on it with nothing major so far. The 09S has 28500 and nothing major either. I really enjoy these cars.

No major engine work that I'm aware of.

97,000 km (~60,000 mi) on my 03 S. Did IMS, clutch etc at ~55,000 mi. Runs like a well oiled machine, which it is!

Bald Eagle 07-19-2017 05:21 AM

Bought my pristine, bone stock, 2000S with 10,800 miles in June 2014. I've been putting 5 - 6000 blissful miles each year and it now has 28,500. It's still pristine except for one little stone chip in the front bumper. I've replaced a window regulator and the cap for the overflow bottle. Aside from that, it has just had annual oil changes, washes, and wax (did it last night). It's stored Nov - April. It is my dd from April through October. Even got caught in an early, but very light, snowfall the end of October. Plastic window and headlight covers still clear. I plan on replacing IMS when it needs a clutch. Love every mile, especially the topdown miles.

2004 BSSE 56K miles. Been maintaining everything on this puppy; AOS, RMS, IMS Retrofit, Rotors, Ceramic Pads, Bluetooth, LED Interior Lights, etc, etc. I love her more each day!!!

Seadweller 07-19-2017 09:35 AM

36K on my '98. Original owner did the IMS/RMS, under-drive pulley, and stainless steel brake lines at around 22K miles. Garage kept and covered since day 1, and never driven in the rain. I wasn't keen on the color until I actually saw it in person. For some reason, people are drawn to it like moths to a candle.
