Frunk light? Why?

2001 Boxster S, 3.2L 6speed manual.

Frunk light only lights if the trunk is also open... Why?
Is there a way to fix this?

Opening either front or rear turns the lights on in both, so your front latch microswitch is bad (or the wiring).

I don't get any grief from the alarm when the frunk is closed so, I assumed the micro switch was okay.

The car thinks the frunk always is closed, so no alarm.

I don't think so, if I leave the FRUNK ajar, the alarm complains.

What's the M code for your immobilizer (531, 534, or 535)?

Not sure, have to look in the manual. On a side note though, I popped the cover off over the lock mechanism and worked the lock a few times and the light came on. Is it safe to use say WD-40 in there to free it up?

That's fine, just try not to get too much on the switch. You may want to spray some contact cleaner on/in the switch itself.

Gave the white disc part of the switch a tiny spritz of WD-40 closed the frunk, opened it and the light came on instantly. Looks like that part was just gummed up over time.

Thanks. WD-40 worked to fix my frunk light. It also helped the hood to pop up higher.
