Porsche switch: Either ON or OFF

My front parking sensor box has a basic ON/OFF switch...so to turn the front sensors on when necessary. That switch is basically either ON or OFF, interrupting a +12V wire.

I have an unused PORSCHE switch for "rear window heating". Could that work, if i connect the wire to PIN 1 and PIN 2 (the top ones, close to each other)?
Sounds simple, probably isn't Thanks for your help in advance!

I think PW mentioned recently the switches are momentary, meaning it'd work but only for as long as you hold it down, you'd need it to trigger a latching relay to keep it on... but I'm only guessing, paging @Particlewave for someone who knows what he's talking about...

Using a factory switch for other purposes :)

Porsche switch: Either ON or OFF

That would make sense as demisters would usually switch themselves off after a set period of time. ( I'm too lazy to check the manual, F1 is about to start )

Just find yourself a rocker switch Bran, w/amber indicator of course! Add it to the thin face-plate just in front of your shifter tap this into one of your car's accessory circuit. Problem solved. Could add a few more next to it also... Rocket Launcher, Xray See-through Vision, call Lily over secured line, Jettison Oil, etc etc

Sure you could find the equivalent locally:
e.g.
12VDC ON-OFF LED LIGHTED ROCKER, AMBER | All Electronics Corp.

Porsche switch: Either ON or OFF

I'm no expert, but if you wanted to persist with the demister switch idea, this looks promising?

A1 to A4 when 'on'.

Wow, that was fast, guys.
I did that circuit swap with my sprint-booster switch, which almost exactly fit into the Porsche switch frame. Was just lucky with that circuit layout.

For the other part: Yeah, so I guess using ONLY A1 & A2 would not work (as the switch needs an electrical rather than a mechanical impulse, or maybe both?...lol)

Sprint booster, it remaps the potentiometers in the throttle assembly, so a greater % of throttle position sensor is sent to the ECU for a given amount of pedal travel. Makes the car feel faster. Porsche includes this in some of their sport modes in the newer cars.

Yes, they are momentary. You can use one in conjunction with a latching relay or just stick to a toggle switch.

Sprint booster only works in eGas (2000+) cars, but I wonder if you could put a shim under the cable where it rolls over the pulley but the throttle body to get the same effect? I have never seen a cable throttle boxster assembly in.person before so it might be a ridiculous idea.

haha absolutely brilliant. Hope SB crew don't see your post because you are spot on. Yes it'd work... just like tightening up your bicycle brake line. Shinny screw and shim. Love it Steve loll

It would indeed make the car feel like its primed up for a drive, slightly, sort of anyway. I dig the product... pretty cool!!!

944 guys use a replacement cable cam on the throttle body for the same effect. Would something similar work on a pre-2000 Box?

Would assume so. Bet no one sought about that for the pre-2k. funny

If it comes with a huge toggle switch sticking out of my dash like in an airplane, I'm all up for it

Gotto look good thats all

I know what the pre-2k needs... it needs a mini Compound Bow style "CAM" design for the carb cable feed + the sprint booster mod. There... some pedal performance for you 986Fellas

No switching in the boxster, Bran, sorry. We talk about bows and arrow, ok?

That's the footwell tip switch. It is momentary, like all the rest.
