wicked vibration 3:persistence pays off

looks like i'm not crazy and can actually tell when something is wrong with my car.

svc mgr from walter's called today to inform me that at least 3 of the tires tested poorly. he has a call into atlanta and it looks like i will be getting 3, if not an entire set, of new tires later this week.

had i just driven off the lot yesterday with this problem who knows what would have happened to the tires, car, me! one thing i know for sure is that had the problem persisted for another 5k or 10k miles and then manifested as an obvious problem seen by the dealer - these tires would have been replaced at my expense!

lesson here - whether its your beautiful sports car or a loved one - if you know something is wrong and the expert shrugs you off - perserve brothers (and sisters)! porsche mechanics and doctors alike miss things! (MNBoxster and me excluded of course )

Your persistence paid off. I would insist on four tires to keep them matched up as pairs.

Congratulations! Happily it seems like a simple fix to a vexing problem! Hope you can enjoy your Boxter at 70 mph and more now!

I guess if you believe your wife then this means you won't be right about anything again for 10 years

Edge of my seat...

WOW. Just wanted to let you know that reading the threads on your "Wicked Vibration" (Parts 1, 2 and finally part 3) was pretty suspenseful! (but in the end helpful) I started to notice a little shake between 60-80mph over the weekend. I jumped online to check the messages and suddenly found myself jumping from one action packed discussion to the other. (since you split this drama over three separate entries) I was finally relieved to read that it was just tires. (most likely my problem too. I'll take it in within the next few days)

I really don't think I could have taken another costly maintenance issue right now!! (full brakes 6 months ago, new coolant tank 3 months ago)

And thanks Doc, your colorful story telling helped too! (and belated happy birthday... I'm one day after you)

Cliffs Notes suck...

Did I miss something?...while I have not followed the Wicked Vibration trilogy as avidly as Rena, I thought that in Wicked Vibration 2, the Mach character traded the Porsche for a BMW.

Is Wicked Vibration 3 an epilogue of sorts? to tell us what happens to the characters after they part ways? Mach uses "my car" and "I will be getting" as if the car is still his.

check the dates that wicked 3 was started - beginning of May before the gut wrenching decision to part with the boxster.

glad the info helped Rena - ditto back at ya for b-day props!
