Service warning indication

Dumb question... My Box just warned me "Service in 900 miles". Is it telling me I need an oil change? I have only had this car for a month and haven't yet read the owners manual. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It's just a time or mileage indicator to take it to the stealership. It's a maintenance reminder like for your 40K or 60K mi maintenance, not an actual warning for oil change interval. The stealership sets the interval. If you're doing your own maintenance and don't want them to do anything to it, then you're at their mercy and mood that day whether they turn the light off for free or charge you $35. I've had both.

Hmm. I haven't gotten a warning like that in 11 years and 50k miles...

Requires a Porsche specific scan tool like the Durametric system.

With a 2001 car, you will never get one, it was only on the later cars.
