				Outer CV Join

			Hi,
newbie on this forum, i'm looking for some advice
I've an issue on rear leaft, CV join sounds dead. I'm looking for parts to repare it, it's quite easy to get Inner CV join (near motor), but I don't know where looking for outer join (near wheel).

Do you have some advice ?

Thanks !

			Hi,
Yes i saw the page, and the detailed command page. My mechanic said CV joint inner and outer are different.

Is Axle Joint corresponding to CV Joint ?

And it's written : Axle Joint (Rear Right Inner, Rear Left Inner, Left or Right Rear Outer)

Is it the same part that can be used left/right and inner/outer at rear ? I understood it was differents parts.

I'm quite in trouble
ps : ahah thx, school english, so not fluent as I'ld like !

What type and model year is your 986?
Maybe it's easier if you tell us the part number on the diagram.

Same problem with english here.
Regards from Germany, Markus

I don't believe you can actually buy a replacement outer CV jointYou can rebuild them, otherwise you have to replace the axle

The inner CV can be replaced

Cage and balls can be replaced on the outer CV joint.
If anything else is worn or broken you have to replace the whole axle or get a used one and build a new one with the best parts of both.

Also there are cheap replacement axles available, but i wouldn't go for one because i live in Germany and we have the Autobahn where we on some passages can drive without speed limit.

Because you have a 2004 car, make shure you get the right axles for your car.

 M 009/249 = 3.2 Litre / Tiptronic -> 986 332 024 11

 M 009/480 = 3.2 Litre / 6 speed manual

Is the cage and balls for the outer CV a Porsche part, or aftermarket?

OK, need to check with my mechanic if replacing this part is mandatory.
For full axle replacement, what should be the cost of the entire part ?
