Drive Belt Help

Anybody have a hard time getting the drive belt on? No matter how much I lean on the tensioner I never have enough slack to get the belt on. It seems like I get the tensioner as far as it can go but at this point it seems like the bolt turns.

Tia

You sure you have the right size belt? It was easy for me to route the new belt on when changing it.

My friend gave me the belt and the packaging is right. As long as the belt was in the right package it should be fine.

Ok, if you say so. To be sure, you might want to take the old belt, and compare it to the new one to see if it is the same, or try to put back on the old one, and see if it is that hard to put on. Should be easy to figure out that way if the new belt is correct size.

Not long after buying my car 8 years ago, I purchased a new serpentine belt from Autozone. I couldn't get it on for the life of me and ended up taking it back. It was the correct belt (can't remember brand) but flat out wouldn't go on. I ended up buying another brand belt and it went right on without issue.

The Gates premium brand belt is what I had. Heluva struggle but worth it in the end. The Conti belt is 'floppier' and easier to install. YEMV

I have the gates belt and I can't get it on for the life of me. Installed the old one again without a problem. I will be headed over to Porsche to pick up one of their belts.
