still waiting for my 1999 to arrive so i figured i would do some advance shopping prep.
could someone give me a list of any specialty tools required to do all regular maintenance like the 5 speed drain plug socket? and best place to buy them?

and where is the best place to buy the Porsche decals that run above the rocker panels?

I use PelicanParts for most of my parts. You don't really need a ton of specialty tools, as long as you have torx, occasionally triple square, allen, etc. Sometimes you'll need specialty tools like a pressure bleeder for the brakes or something, but most of the time, a simple metric socket set will do you just fine. I've gone for a full year without needing anything past a triple square.

I assume that you already have a torque wrench. I use both 3/8" and 1/2" types depending on the specified torque.

Also, get a set of hex sockets. You'll need those for the oil drain plug, brake caliper bolts, and a few other places.

Harbor Freight and/or Sears are easy places to find whatever tools you need.

Also get a set of TORX key sockets.
Harbor Freight has a decent set for not a lot of $

Depending on what you plan on wrenching, you may need some triple Square sockets

For changing the oil with the factory canister (reusable) get a oil filter wrench that fit. Ebay and Amazon are good places. IIRC its 74mm 15 flute, but I could be wrong on that. Do a search

my bad, i already have a full set of automotive tools (ex veh tech) i mean specialty porsche/boxster tools as i am 3 weeks shipping for anything i need and roof down driving season is real in eastern canada.

So you intend to do your own diagnosis? Have a PC? Durametric OBD2 diagnostic tool.

Ex mech, you probably have everything you need and then some. Some silly things like the seat bolts on mine were a E12 star socket that I didn't have. Other than that if you have metric sockets and wrenches including allens you are pretty much set.

Make sure you get the kit with the correct cap for your Boxster. Works well on other vehicles.In theory you can make your own from a garden sprayer.I did but this is so much better.
BUT - do not put the brake fluid int he container. It wastes too much and is messy to clean up. The reservoir for the clutch+brakes on the Boxster is huge anyway. Just use the Motive to pressurize ,not to pump in fluid. DO not over pressurize. It has a handy pressure gauge on it.
One reason to use this is that the brake/clutch combo and the power spring on the clutch pedal is a bit weird. In the 'wrong' circumstances the clutch pedal will slam down against the firewall ! You have to pull it back up with your hand or get your toe under it. Intersting if it happens while driving.
Buy a Motive bleeder.Enjoy.
