I read about the increase in HP on another board. Some folks there were upset at their dealers for recently selling them 06s and not telling them of the upgraded Box on the way.
Interesting though, Porsche adds about 15 HP to the S and increases it's price another $9375 +/- in US dollars. I didn't read anywhere that the new Box and S were limited to Europe, so I presume we will see them here as well.
Anyone thinking of trading up?

Sounds like allot of cash for still not enough power! (for the power hungry crowd).
When Sportec dropped the 3.8 in a 987 Excellence magazine felt it could still handle more power. Kind of hard to get excited baout a 3.4
This car could easily handle 350 HP without ruffling a feather.
But then I guess that would make it a $150,000 Boxster S!

With that kind of power would a limited slip be mandatory or does the boxster have enough grip inherent in the design to not necessitate one?

Biz-z Z, do I understand you correctly? Porsche is going to charge another $9,300 for the extra 15 HP's? I for one don't think it would be worth it!
As a recent 2006 owner, I am not upset with the dealer who sold me my car. I wanted the car this year not next year. So, I would not have been willing to wait for a 2007 upgrade.

At the above link they say:
" The basic price for the new Boxster is 37,700 euros. Including sales tax and country-specific requirements, it costs 43,935 euros in Germany. The Boxster S has a basic price of 45,600 euros. With sales tax and country-specific requirements added, this more powerful model costs 53,099 euros."
Figure about $1.25 US dollars per Euro, and it isn't hard to believe our favorite sports car company has jumped up the price of the Box-S in the neighborhood of $9,300. I agree this 15 HP increase is quite pricey especially when one considers a 30 HP increase from the Carrera to Carrera S costs in the neighborhood of $10K US., and that also includes 19" wheels, bigger brakes, and PASM. I don't consider a 295 HP Box-S at $66,375 +/- a bargain compared to the MY 05 and 06 Boxsters and Ss and their corresponding prices.
Just one man's opinion.

The 2007 Porsche Boxster and Boxster S go on sale in North America in August. U.S. pricing for the new models is $45,600 and $55,500 respectively.

Yeah, one can't do a simple exchange rate to get our future pricing here in the good old USA. We seem to be able to buy Porsches for a lot less than most everyone else around the world. I don't know why this is the case, but I sure do love it!
It may be that import and or road taxes for new cars are lower here compared to other places.

OK, this make much more sense now, since the base price for a 2006 987S was $54,700 and the 987 was$45,000. Thanks for the clarity SD987.

What's throwing off the math is the misleading paragraph at the end of the press release which compares the "base price" for all countries to the "end price" in Germany. Basically, the price hike will be 1.3-1.5% internationally, and to get a handle on it, you need to know what the "sales tax and country-specific requirements added" brings the total to, for your country of choice (by way of the configurator).
In Germany (euros):
987 (06) 43,333 - (07) 43,935
987S (06) 52,265 - (07) 53,099
In U.S. (USD):
987 (06) 45,000 - (07) 45,600
987S (06) 54,700 - (07) 55,500
On a percentage basis, the increases are nearly identical, but as Randall pointed out, it's still cheaper to buy Porsches in the U.S. and you can't apply the conversion rate to figure out the price.

So the new 3.4l motor makes the car higher priced by less than a grand? That blows for all us 3.2l folks, but oh well...
At least the 3.4l Boxsters will be in a different class than us 3.2l Boxsters in POC and PCA, at least they BETTER be...

And 20k under sticker makes that the most phenomenal automotive bargain in the world, yet still nobody bought those fantastic vehicles. Nobody wants such an expensive VW with VW service - they want Audi/MB/BMW/Lexus/Infiniti service, and the cachet that goes with those brands. In Europe, there is not such brand snobbery.

Ahh... so that's what "Bitter" feels like! I now understand how some of the older boxster owners must've felt when Porsche bumped displacement on them.
Man, I'll have had mine for only a year and a half probably before these start showing up in the showrooms. Ah well, that's how Porsche plays. I wouldn't sell my car for a measly 15 horses anyhow. I'll wait a couple more years and see what happens...

I'm struggling to understand why anyone with an older model would feel slighted. Since the 356, Porsche has ALWAYS increased the displacement of their offered engines over time. The Boxster has already done it once in 2000. And there's a price premium for the new car. So you got what you paid for.
If anything, it's a positive sign for the Boxster's continued production.

Who cares about continued production? People are in love with their car, they're not in love with Porsche. Well, generally.
I can fully understand. Now, if I'd bought my car in 2003 it probably wouldn't bother me--that's a reasonable time period for which to change a car. The switch from 986 to 987 wouldn't have been so exciting either because you would've known that a new one was on the way as it was in the mags for ages and all the dealers were discounting the 2004's so heavily and the model was DEFINITELY due for a refresh.
But no other manufacturer that I know of charges their customers so much and then changes their offerings so quickly on them.
Imagine if you'd bought a 2006 this month. How would you feel now?

I disagree with the first statement. I've driven Porsches of all kinds for many years. The Boxster is a great car, but the Marque is special and it's in every car they make (well, maybe not the SUV).
I'd feel just fine about having bought a 2006. Thanks. They put a glass rear window and glove compartment in the 2003, does it make me feel like I got screwed on my 2000, no.
