I'm wondering what / which oil filters can be used with the LN screw on adapter

any one using this system , what filters are recommended

based on recommendation i got from another forum member, im using WIX 51042

If you have the IMS solution adapter you use a different filter, the regular non ims solution adapter uses Wix 51042 or equivalent.

Just to be clear:

IMS Solution uses WIX 51348

Spin on oil filter adapter uses WIX 51042.

Is this correct?

I want to start to do all of my own oil changes and would like to use a spin on adapter.
Would it be safe to say that I can tell if my car already has a spin on adapter on it by seeing if the oil filter housing is attracted to a magnet?

(I didn't want to cough up $145 for the adapter only to find out my car already had one.....)

Yeah the install of the spin on adapter is really easy.

Add oil to the two O-rings - the bigger one on the outside that is obvious, and there is a smaller one on the inside at the top. that is kind of hidden

Then just thread it on, and then torque it to spec (25 Nm - 18 Ft/Lbs). I think the newer ones you can just use a big socket (26mm), the older ones like mine come with a tool that you place on the bottom and then use the socket on that.

Then just thread on the oil filter using regular spin on oil filter technique, oil the gasket, spin it on, when it gets snug go 1 additional turn etc...

When you go to change the oil once the spin on adapter is installed, you can just watch to ensure it does not spin loose with the filter. Mine has never moved after several oil changes.
