Brake fluid change

Sorry have not checked to see if their is a thread about, but can I change the brake fluid on my 2003 S with PSM, without having to hook up to a computer with the Porsche program to enable the valves to be opened whilst bleeding. Thanks

Yes, as long as you don't bleed the system dry (by dry I mean letting all the old fluid out, then putting in new fluid). That will allow air to get into your ABS system which will require a more costly bleed by an authority. Keep fluid in the system at all times and you won't have to worry about air in the ABS system.

Some use the old fashioned 2 person bleed, some use a bleeder like a Motive. Some use the Motive dry to put pressure in the system and add fluid to the reservoir as needed while others put fluid in the bleeder and the pressure feeds the reservoir. Either way works, I do the latter.

Yes, as Husker said, just be sure to not run the reservoir empty or you could end up with some air in the system that may require cycling of the PSM system to get it out.

I use a Motive power bleeder and put fluid in the bleeder and let the pressure feed the reservoir. Never had a problem with this process.
