Brake fluid reservoir screen removal

Anyone got any advice on removing the screen from the brake fluid reservoir on a '99 986. Was all set up to do a brake fluid flush per 101 and I couldn't remove the screen from the reservoir so that I could remove some of the old fluid. I tried unscrewing it and just plain pulling it and it wouldn't budge.

Pliers and pull. It takes a fair bit of pull the first time
