Working 7 days a week with my hobby after retirement still doesn't seem to give me enough time to get everything done I want to. Stay tuned more pieces will be coming. Thanks

Thanks for the update, Joe. I am definitely interested in having on my car for next year's autocross season.

Joe,
After seeing two smokin' fast miatas with big rear spoilers at this weekends AX, I'm interested in the BIG version of the ducktail. Are you producing this?

I keep thinking about that larger duck tail every once in a while. Keep us updated.

Joe - Received mine on Saturday, looks great. Will be having it painted to match this winter, but I'm sure it will look like the factory put it there (which they should have).

Thanks! Jim

That986 02-06-2017 01:53 AM

Interested in one of these, could you get one to the UK?

Joe toth 02-14-2017 06:19 PM

It's been a while but finally managed to get a couple of new pieces done for the car. Headlight covers for the track and flaps for the front wheel well. Apparently these things are supposed to assist in getting air out from under the car and wheel wells.

Really like the front wheel well flaps, do you know if those would fit for the 2003+ facelift cars? And do they come only in carbon fiber?

Joe toth 02-14-2017 07:10 PM

I can make them in black FRP. They will fit '03. I can also make them a bit longer so they can fit most cars. Only need to trim off the extra length. Selling the CF ones for a hundred.

geetee 02-18-2017 06:04 PM

are you still working on the side scoops?

Joe toth 02-19-2017 06:48 AM

Yes, I was hoping to have the scoop completed this weekend. A number of orders came in the last few days which puts my development time on the back durner again. Got to get the customer parts out first.

rfuerst911sc 02-23-2017 03:53 PM

Joe as I was looking at those flaps it made me think to ask have you ever made front strakes ( I think that's what they are called ) ? Race cars have them on the front for more downforce . Just thinking maybe another item to design/make . They generally start at the lower front and transition/rise around the side . Sorry for the poor description . Still loving the ducktail !

Justin327 02-28-2017 01:22 PM

Looks like I'm late to the party, but any chance on having any small ducktails left hanging around??

Joe toth 02-28-2017 01:51 PM

rfuers911sc.....I think what you are referring to what I call dive planes or canard wings. Yes I make them for six different models now both in black gel coat/ FRP and carbon fiber.

Justin 327......I'm still making Ducktails. Let me know if you'd like one.

rfuerst911sc 02-28-2017 02:38 PM

Joe yes your description sounds correct . Do you have pics of the dive planes posted somewhere ? I assume you have ones that will fit the Boxster ? How are they installed or what holds them on ?

Joe toth 02-28-2017 03:01 PM

Lots of pictures on my Facebook page "Joe Toth Composites". I'll try and get some up here soon.

MN 986 02-28-2017 07:37 PM

I'm with Justin327, also interested in a (small) ducktail. Sent a PM yesterday. Thanks!

rfuerst911sc 03-01-2017 03:19 PM

Joe what do you charge for the dive planes ? And what holds them on ? You have them for 986 correct ?

Joe toth 03-01-2017 04:25 PM

Dive planes are 175 black gel coat/FRP, 300 in carbon fiber. Most guys use 3M double sided tape. Some dedicated track cars use fasteners to hold them on.

Still making them. Give me a call or text at 604-329-9391 or email tei@telus.net
I'd be happy to make one for you.

P_Carfahrer 03-26-2017 08:03 AM

Joe,
I am also interested in one. Looks like you have the makings of another group buy with the recent interest. Any chances of doing one? In any case please PM me price/shipping to Utah.

Looks great.

Dave80GTSi 05-19-2017 04:28 PM

Group buy #2?

Just wondering if there's enough current interest in the small ducktails to justify another round?

Thanks - DM

Joe toth 05-19-2017 05:20 PM

Still making the ducktails. Orders are coming in on a regular basis. Anyone interested you can't contact me here, on my Facebook page, tei@telus.net or cell 604-329-9391.
I'd be glad to make one.

Got any pics?

JBauer 06-02-2017 07:25 PM

Got mine today. If your thinking about getting one don't worry about the quality. Very well made and fits perfectly.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1496460346.jpg

MN 986 06-02-2017 07:55 PM

I got my ducktail spoiler painted and installed about a month ago,,, couldn't be happier with it. Body shop was impressed with the quality, and I installed it myself (be sure you have it positioned perfectly before 2x tape sticks). It matches perfectly with AerokitII and other body mods.
Highly recommend this spoiler!

Here is the latest piece to my aero kit. It took a while with moving and a lot of orders this spring but finally managed to get my side intake scoop mold completed and making production pieces. Not having access or the funds to a wind tunnel with dyno I did a simple test to see if there was anything noticeable/measureable with the scoop. I drove the same stretch of highway in both directions 164 Km (82KM each way) once with the scoop on and then without the scoop. This was done late at night so the ambient air temperature would remain fairly constant. Cruise control was set at 115KPH to eliminate my right foot from the equation. I filled the tank three times at the same gas station about 200 yards off the freeway. The one variable is how different the fills might have been, I was careful in trying to keep them the same.
I used 1.2 liters less fuel for the 164Km drive with the scoop on. This translates to fuel mileage of 33.89mpg as opposed to 31.1mpg with no scoop. This is a 9% increase. My gas fills I’m sure were not bang on exact but certainly didn’t vary by 1.2 liters.
To my simple mind I conclude if the car is doing the same amount of work with less fuel it is making more power…..please correct me if you disagree.
