Yeah me too :D I am going to order my paint supplies this weekend in anticipation of delivery .

rfuerst911sc 08-07-2016 03:51 AM

Joe any thoughts on when you might be ready to start shipping the rear spoilers ? Just trying to carve out time in my schedule to fit/prime/paint . Thanks

Joe toth 08-07-2016 06:46 AM

I'm trying for Monday, Tuesday. Coming along very nicely. Had a couple of personal things come up this week. A new grandson arrived, my sixth grandchild and my brother ended up in the hospital. Sorry I took a bit of time. I'm back on them today.

rfuerst911sc 08-07-2016 10:19 AM

Joe I am sorry for your brother being in the hospital hope all works out. Was NOT trying to rush you just wanting to get a timeline . And congratulations on the grandson I have three myself ! It's all good I ordered the paint supplies today. Thanks again .

EJ_2001_986_S 08-11-2016 04:51 AM

Any update on shipping the parts? Just want to be sure when to keep an eye out for the package.

Joe toth 08-11-2016 02:32 PM

Four of the ducktails left today, the remaining four will go tomorrow.

rfuerst911sc 08-11-2016 02:52 PM

Did two people back out ? Or did you sell 10 with some local pick ups ? I'd hate to think you did a group buy and got stiffed . Hope your brother is doing well and thanks again for doing these .

Joe toth 08-11-2016 03:12 PM

One local person to pick up on the weekend and one person has not paid. Oh well, I'm ok with 90%. My brother is improving. Finally got off the antibiotic drip yesterday for an infection he was battling. I worry about him as he's had four strokes and the smallest things can mess up his blood. Thanks for asking.

Joe toth 08-13-2016 07:03 AM

All the ducktails are shipped. I have installed two sided tape on the bottom mounting area of the ducktail. For those painting maybe you can mask it off to save the tape. Still not sure if it's required, I now have 3000 KM on mine and it's still there same as the day I installed it. Also included three plastic pins (they're not OEM) in case you need.

I need to find an '03 or newer Boxster this weekend to do the next generation ducktail and also get back to work on the side intake scoops.

I will continue making these if there is anyone interested.
Thanks, Joe

Thumper 08-19-2016 09:33 AM

Mine arrived yesterday and it looks even better in person.

Thanks!

Jeff

I'm sorry, went back in the thread and yes there you are. Not sure how I missed that. Your post indicated x2. Is that still hold.
You can call me if you'd like 604-329-9391 or email tei@telus.net
I'd be happy to make the piece/ pieces for you.

rfuerst911sc 08-26-2016 03:25 PM

Today I test fit the ducktail it fit very well. So I moved on to giving it a sanding and cleaning with alcohol. Put down four light to medium coats of grey primer. Waited an hour and gave the primer a light sanding. Cleaned her up and put down 4 coats of Arctic Silver waiting about 10 minutes between coats. Let that dry for an hour and put down 6 coats of clear coat. All of this was custom mixed rattle cans. I'm happy to say no runs ! :D I think it came out good for a backyard paint job. Will let it dry through Sunday morning and then do the final install. I will take pics once it is installed .

NJBoxster2000 08-26-2016 09:44 PM

Got the tail on Tuesday and installed it as is on Friday. Looks GREAT!!!! Thank you Joe. I'll post pics once I wash her.

rfuerst911sc 08-28-2016 08:04 AM

Installed it this morning I think it looks good. Here are some indoor and outdoor pics .

I will post more pictures on my Facebook page.

Would appreciate feedback before I make the mold.

Don't change a thing!

I should be taking ownership of a 986 in a couple weeks, and I'm all in for the short duck tail.

Do you have a website?
I don't do Facebook.

Edit: I see now that Tarett is handling your parts. Not finding the duck tail on the website though.

Thumper 08-28-2016 08:13 AM

Looks great! You need some 550 tail lights to finish it off!

Post a few picks of the whole car.

rfuerst911sc 08-28-2016 10:16 AM

I may be in the minority but I actually like the rear lights . But yesterday I did order some clear front side marker lights as I don't like the orange ones. I don't have any good overall pics of the car I need to take some. The ducktail was the last exterior detail I have wanted .

The Radium King 10-02-2016 08:52 AM

hi! any word on progress on side skirts and rear diffuser? tanks.

Stroked & Blown 10-09-2016 05:00 PM

Joe,
After seeing two smokin' fast miatas with big rear spoilers at this weekends AX, I'm interested in the BIG version of the ducktail. Are you producing this?

Joe toth 10-10-2016 08:00 AM

The larger version of the ducktail is still one of the many (12 and counting) projects I'm trying to get done along with the side skirts. It has been a busy last few months with orders which keep me away from play time with new pieces. Working 7 days a week with my hobby after retirement still doesn't seem to give me enough time to get everything done I want to. Stay tuned more pieces will be coming. Thanks

Joe toth 10-10-2016 04:49 PM

Here is a picture of the latest version of the ducktail. This is the first one sent to Germany.
