				Aircon Recharge, summer is coming.

			Hi,
I am wonder where people usually take their car to regas/recharge the aircon.
A normal independent garage, Porsche Specialist, Stealership or just an air conditioning place?

My aircon works and does blow cold but not really cold enough for the Los Angeles CA summer.

Thanks |

My driveway, with a can of stuff from the car parts place. There's no rocket science involved, just follow the instructions on the can.

Go to a independent Porsche shop or a shop the specializes in A/C. Doing it at home like flaps10 said is easy but if your system is not working properly you may want to have it looked at. These cars are getting up there in age so you may have a small leak. Good luck.

I have 666 posts before hitting the submit button. I have nothing to add to this conversation but I need one more post so that my superstition doesn't follow me around the rest of today.
Hope summer comes sooner rather than later.

Being a Redneck -I just use propane :-) . Really - it is a more efficient refrigerant than Freon .Woops Freon is banned -but not propane ! However there may be a downside to using Propane....

My AC wasn't as cold as I wanted. i like driving around during the summer with the top down and AC blowing out by our feet. I did the recharge myself and mended the swiss cheese blender flaps, which improved, but still not icy cold. I ended up taking it to my preferred (non-Porsche) shop. The compressor was leaking and was replaced along with the dryer and some other part. It works great now, cost a few bucks, but worth it.

Are you sure the system is low? May just be your flaps.

Thanks for your suggestions. My system still blows cold the same it has been the last 2/3 years I think, but my car is not driven daily. Sometimes it sits around for month due to my work travel.

I feel like maybe if I recharge, the aircon will be cold like a Japanese car??
Or is the aircon really not that cold even working correctly? :/

I have a Citroen, even when I had a new aircon, it still was no where as cold as my 2005 Prius with 170k miles.

Mine is ice cold and works great even when it's 115 F.
