Maybe some help, that part on the resonator tube is (K) in the diagram:

Perfect. I found it. Thanks for the diagram. I couldn't find one in my Bentley manual.

Not quite, and it varies a little bit by year. My original source of that diagram was from posts Wayne made on the Pelican site for 996s.
In that diagram, I'm pretty sure that (I) is a line that goes to the Tiptronic transmission.

Probably the best complete source is the Porsche 986 Parts catalog (USA)

It is spread across a few different diagrams:
Illustration 107-00
Illustration 107-05
Illustration 107-10
Illustration 108-05
Illustration 108-06

That's my guess anyway.
