Poll on adding oil between oil changes

I was wondering how often do people have to add oil between oil changes. Things that might be useful are model year, s vs base, how many miles on car, how many months between oil change, how many miles between oil change, do you have to add oil between oil changes - how much and how often/how many mile.

So here it goes:
2000 base Boxster with 62500 miles, change oil every 6 months about 2000 miles between oil changes, don't need to add any oil, oil level doesn't drop much at all maybe one notch at most or not at all on digital readout. Used to change yearly until IMS update, never have had to add oil. Have had car for coming up to 16 years.

Ditto, except it's a 2003 S and I change oil once a year (DT 40), roughly every 3-4,000 miles.

I am not sure you'll find anyone who runs their oil long enough to have the car burn any. I change mine when I put it away and when I take it back out. Never had to add any.

5k between oil changes, about 2 per year
lots of spirited back road driving, multiple AX and track days
Generally no oil added, maybe a few ounces at the track

Change oil every 2-3 months (every 3 race weekends). Mobil 1 High Mileage. Oil level never changes. 90K mile engine from salvage yard. Engine driven to/at redline continuously for 2-3 hours per weekend.

It's amazing reading about earlier cars with so little mileage...

Mine it's an '07 with 87k + on the clock.. come on guys get out and enjoy your cars :-)

I changed the oil every 5k and after replacing the gearbox input shaft bearing, the engine started to 'burn' about one quart every 3-4k that ended being a broken AOS accordion hose making a mess everywhere...

After replacing the accordion hose no more 'oil burning'... LOL

1st oil change after a new IMS coming up. Every 5k.

Just last week it gave me a low oil warning on the OBC. It was just touching the tip of the dip stick. I know it was dead center when I filled after the last change after car warmed up.

Also did LN spin on adapter and magnetic plug

141k miles.

99, 2.5l, 55k on engine. Oil change every 5k, one time after 10k, never had to add any. For the past two years it was a daily driver. 60 mile round trip. Mostly regular driving with some foot in it on a regular basis as well.

That's good to hear these engines don't seem to burn oil. I haven't changed mine yet, I just bought it last July and only put on maybe 200 miles if that. I'll probably change it next spring, the car has around 111,500 miles on it and it's a 99 with a 2.5 ltr.

I have a 1999 Boxster.
I've had it since 2009. I purchased it with 104,000 miles.
I now have 262,000 miles on it and I change the oil & filter every 10,000 miles.
I use either Mobil 1 or Royal Purple.
I have never had to add oil between oil changes. The IMS is original.

2000S. Owned for last 7+ years. Purhased at 76K miles. Now has 128.5K. I added 1 liter of oil once.

I change oil ~8 months or so, which equates to 3 or 4 thousand miles.

No leaks, No IMS work done.

If you're gonna store the car over the winter, at least change it before storage. Otherwise your bearing will be sitting in dirty oil all winter. I change it in the fall before storage and again in the spring when I take it out.

'98 base. 45K when purchased 2 years ago. 51K now. Annual oil change is the plan. No adding necessary.

The only time I ever had to add oil was when I over tightened my LN magnetic oil drain plug and it leaked.

I've never had to add a drop of oil between changes on either of mine.
Average 5,000-6,000 miles between changes.

Weekender: 1999, oil change annually, 98,000 miles
Daily Driver: 1999, oil change every 8 weeks, 154,000 miles
