My 2000 Boxster

So,I have got a 2000 Boxster 2.7 Tip-tronic.The car is beautiful, excellent body, paint, strong engine, new tires on 18"Porsche rims.Transmission is broken, needs to be rebuilt or replaced.Tranny already pulled, sitting at Aamco in Flagstaff,AZ.3k to rebuild and reinstall,1.5k to put in a used one.Wife wants Me to sell it.So I lowered the price to $4500.00,got some calls, have not sold it yet.Kind of depressed over the Whole affair because I love the car.Wife say I'm not much fun to be around so I should get on Prozac.Should I fix the car and get an other wife?Or should I sell the car and get on Prozac?Hell of a dilemma.

Fix the car, put the wife on prozac. If that doesn't help, trade the wife.

A trade for a good condition Wife on Prozac should cover the cost of a new transmission
You may have to supply a years worth of Prozac to sweeten the deal

Yup. Wives are easy to replace. Nice Boxsters not so easy.

Just scrape up the $ and get the transmission fixed. Then you'll be happy and the wife won't have anything to ******************** about. (well, that's not true. They always have something...)

sounds like the wife needs her MAF cleaned and her throttle body lubricated and checked for vacuum leaks. Be sure to plug any leaks found.
It's a pretty easy DIY. I am sure there are local members that will assist you if needed.

If that does not work, trade the wife for a newer model with a PDK

In any case you need a working tranny in your car

All kidding aside, about 18 months after I got my boxster my 5 speed tranny had a really bad 2nd gear synchro and way back in 2005 they didn't have rebuild kits. So I just saved up the money, bought a used tranny for $1500, and had it installed.

I don't even think about it any more. Pony up for a used tranny and get down the road. It's not the end of the world.

Plus, if you put a working tranny in the car you can probably sell it for $7500-9000... it just makes good sense to repair the car and keep it or then sell it.

$4500 is an awful price since the motor is running... don't sell it for this amount of money.

This is very good/logical advice. I would replace with a used trans and keep it. If the situation required, I would replace it with the used trans and then sell the car.

Hell, you'd probably come out farther ahead financiall replacing with used and then just trading it in, as opposed to trying to sell it without a working tranny.

It is a beautiful car. Save the money, fix the tranny, and enjoy it! When it's fixed take the wife on a weekend getaway in it!! She will come around!!

What about using a tranny wife as a boxster tranny? Cheaper and unlimited gears!
