Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix - 2015

The Pittsburgh Vintage grand Prix - now in its 33d year. Come join hundreds of your fellow p-car enthusiasts as we again gather on the lawn at Schenley Park to enjoy our cars, the races and above all, the camaraderie that has grown over the years. We always have a great gathering of Porsches. Now is the time to register and get this event on your calendar.

The PVGP takes place in scenic Schenley Park in the heart of Pittsburgh. This is one of 2 vintage races that occur on public streets in the world, the other being Monaco. It is also a significant charity fundraiser – proceeds are donated through the PVGP to the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and the Allegheny Valley School.

This year promises to be the best yet. We will have the Janis Joplin Porsche 356 this summer, on display direct from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum, and on loan to our Club (Allegheny Region Porsche Club of America - ARPCA) by the family of Janis Joplin. A very special car for a spectacular event! The Joplin Porsche will be displayed "Under the Tent" as the center piece of a display of special cars. Also, in light of this very special exhibit, we will also display an additional 10 Porches "Outside of the Tent", in a semi-circle around the main display. If you would like to have your car considered for this companion exhibit, please send the request with car details to me at pvgp@arpca.com. The donation for this display is an additional $150 for each day (regular registration also applies). This is a once in a lifetime chance to have your car parked next to this iconic Porsche!

Here are the highlights of the weekend activities to enjoy:

Are there Porsche vendors at this event or racing vendors Stable, OG, or others?

Can you just pay the day of, and get parking if you can't commit in advance?

Thank you

Other than our Club's goodie store, which only has limited stuff, there are no Porsche specific vendors there. In fact, considering how big the event is (over a quarter million people over the weekend) I am surprised how few vendors there are.
You can attend without preregistering, the drive up rate is $85 Saturday and $75 Sunday, each day includes two catered lunches, and Saturday has the door prize drawings.

There is no cost to attend if you want to just come out, but you won't be able to get your Porsche into the golf course for display in the car show with the other Porsches. You would be able to buy food from various vendors around the venue, but we do not sell individual meal tickets for folks who aren't therewith a car or the guest of someone there with a car.

It is a fun weekend. It'll be pretty special to have Janis Joplin's 356 there too. There are always plenty of Boxsters as well.

Less than one month out - time to register!

Come see the Joplin 356 up close and personal, as well two other very special cars next to it - an authentic 1974 RSR - one of 15 cars built by the factory for the IROC, and driven by Petty, Fittipaldi, Revson and Foyt, and a 1957 356 Carrera GS Speedster - one of 75 ever made. Enjoy hundreds of other spectacular Porsches as well.

We also have the Friday night Welcome Party at the Double Wide Grill in Cranberry Twp next to the hotels, with good food, great people, and lots of P-cars for an impromptu gathering (July 17th). Plus this year, we are having a Friday rally - leaving the Double Wide at 2pm Friday, driving through the beautiful rolling hills of SW PA, and returning at 5 pm or so, in time for the Welcome Party. So come early - no cost to participate!

Go to our website and see all of the details of the event and register: ARPCA.com » PVGP 2015
