I checked the other side and didn't see it there. I will check a little more in-depth tonight after work.

Very common that these break off. Pelican has them for $25.

I've replaced those. There's a stud or post that usually pokes through the part that mounts to the car and holds that trim on. That's not on the piece he is holding.

I also think those are closed on the ends.

You're right, I was going off what rdass623 posted. The mud guard is smaller and is closed at the ends or solid rubber. Could that be a section of the door seal that broke off??
