Vin number question
Okay, here is a new one. I'm not sure even why I spotted this but I was looking at the VIN number of my 03 Boxster through the windshield on the dash and then looked at the etched VIN on the windshield itself just above the dash VIN and saw this
Dash VIN WP0CB29883U662 773
Windshield VIN WP0CB29883U662 273
the Dash Vin 662773 is correct but kind of odd the windshield is different by one number.

Paul,
Your car must be a Chinese knock-off.

Whoever etched your windshield made a mistake.

Well I figured that but the etched windshield looks factory done and I figured with German standards they would never make a mistake like that. Then again it was built in Finland so maybe the Fins aren't so conscientious

Vin position numbers 12-17 are the sequential production numbers for specific vehicle. Maybe windshield was replaced and the replacement winshield was etched for id. purpose .

Windshields are not etched at factory.

Aside from the VIN, where is the option code information located? Is there a sticker somewhere?

Be hopeful that whomever owns Boxster VIN WP0CB29883U662 273 doesn't show up at your house and ask for his windshield back!!
