986 2.7 year 2001 seats

Hello
I have a 2.7 986 which I absolutely adore, the only problem is the seats that it came with can be very uncomfortable on long journeys and give me a back ache.
I believe they are the optional sports seats

I have been thinking of swapping them for a standard 986 seat or a factory standard bucket seat
Does anyone have any thoughts ?! Or advise

As long as the power options are like-to-like, they should (at least in theory) be a plug'n'play swap.

Does anyone know if bucket seats were a 986 option from the factory, I'd like to keep the car standard

I would be in for some sport seats too... If they are black I will trade you my "regular" seats, they are in great shape as the PO had them repaired and replaced some of the leather before I bought them. By buckets do you mean like GT3 seats? They are plug & play but I don't think they ever came standard or as an option on the 986 Boxster.

Should have pointed out I live in England.

The Seats seems to give me a bad back and there is very little neck support, which made me think about swapping for buckets

Yeah, you live in England. That's not a problem in and of itself, but remember everyone, the height-adjustable seat in RHD cars is on the right.

I love my Sports Seats Plus and would never trade them for anything else.

lumbar support

you can make a cheap lumbar support using a blood pressure cuff. you just use the bulb to inflate or deflate to your preference. very easy to do and very comfortable.

just an idea.

I find sheepskin seat covers help a lot, I also have one of these, for some lumbar support: Universal Inflatable In Seat Lumbar Air Bladder and take your wallet out of your back pocket. Best!
I suffer the same problem and will probably end up trying this, although as you say it wont help with neck support.

I have the sport seats from an '03 in my car and they are both height adjustable. The original standard seats were only adjustable on the driver side.

I did this. Get the child-size cuff. It tucks in behind the seat panel perfectly, and I have the bulb sitting beside the handbrake
