Help please. I need an accurate measurement flange to flange.
Hello I just got (dead) boxster and I want to bring her back to life.
I need the measurement from cv flange to cv flange across the transmission. From the Cv mounting surfaces.
Thx. Matt

Sassmatt72,
First of all, Congratulations..!
But you should provide more details like your car is a 5speed, 6speed or automatic transmission, as all of these are (I believe) different in size.
Also with a picture of your new car you will get more cheering... :-)
Regards,

98 5spd, very dead engine....
so how do i put a picture on here???
I found out it dropped a valve, shattered a piston, and cracked a cylinder.
but one head, 4 cams, 5 pistons, (maybe) the rods and crank, and all the exterior motor parts are fine... lol
anyone need 2.5 motor parts?

Interested which transmission your looking at.
The 5 speeds hubs are slightly offset to DS, and have a longer shaft on the Passenger side. 6SPD's are equal length actually the same axle.

You might. 2.5's are inexpensive on Ebay. The parts are not. Depending on your situation, you might strip your existing 2.5 of expensive parts, put them in a box, and grab yourself a used 2.5 and pop it back into the car. And then three's always the temptation for more horsepower with a bigger engine, but that can be more complicated.

hi all, it's a 98, only 67k on it, must have floated a valve dropping the keepers...
its a 5 speed. the whole car is really clean, she must have been a garage queen (till she died) last reg is 8 years back.
I'm seriously contemplating a subaru engine transplant (cue the flame war).
I've done 4 subie motors into vanagons in the past, so I'm well versed in the basics, wiring and suppliers....
the best I've heard so far for a 2.5 P motor (used no guarantee, but a video of it running) is in the 1500$ range for a long block... wit a 6 month guarantee from local used place is 3500-5500...
any ideas, this car is too nice to part out. (and I really want to drive it through the twisties.

subie....
Yup I've been looking at that one for sure. He does incredible welds and his ideas look great.
I'm in CA so the carb/smog cert might be hard that way, but not un-doable?
But 2100 for the adapter +800 for the cradle.... and CA law says a motor and trans are "supposed" to be transplanted together...?
Has any of his been CA registered?

Not sure if this will help, but ballpark is 10.5", eyeballing it with tape measure.
