The one I looked at this weekend was a 2002 Boxster S with 66,000 miles that he wants $12,000 for. The only records he had were oil changes from a Jiffy Lube type place. He said he bought the car from an auction and has had it for 5 years, putting 16,000 miles on it. He only has one key, no windscreen, and the tires that came with it. IMS bearing
New clutch
Replace the rear main seal
Four new tires.

Then, I'd want to do the following:

Replace the missing cruise control cap
Add a magnetic drain plug
Replace the dented spoiler cap
Replace both drop-down window switches
Order a new owner's manual (if possible)
Program a new key

I calculated all those to add up to about $5,500 - $6,800, assuming nothing else was discovered during a PPI.

I'm also hesitant to buy from someone who owned it for 5 years and didn't know they had a rear spoiler that extends at high speeds (I showed him how to put it up).

This does not sound like a 12k car. I'd expect A LOT of records from a caring owner for that price. Locally, this would be a $9-10k car at best.
