Home News Man Dies After Driving Over Side of Piuma Road

Such a shame - this is a great twisty road to drive but alot of the corners tighten up real quick - you need to know the road well or drive with care.
I expect this guy and his friends had been to the Woodland Hills Supercar Sunday meet and then drive up into the hills. He may even be on the Rockstore photo page from yesterday am..
It says the car is a 98, so I guess it is a 996.
RIP.

It was a 1998 C2S, 993 series. He was an active Rennlister and very much liked by everyone over there that had the good fortune to meet him. Terrible tragedy, R.I.P.

it is pretty disgusting the comments that people are putting on the news sight not the time or place to be making jokes

from reading the rennlist forum " According to those of the USC auto club who were there with him at the time of the accident; they're saying it was a mechanical failure around the turn; as all were driving at safe speeds and smoke appeared mid turn leading to under steer ; and left the car unable to steer."

No room for any kind of error in the LA canyons. I refuse to drive there because of that reason.

So sorry for his families' loss.

When I had my 993s I lived on the Rennlist 993 board. You will never find a better group of Porsche enthusiast than the members on that board. I just read the eleven pages regarding the incident. In the fifth post of the thread a member recognized the car as belonging to one of their members; Halcyon. Wing (Vince) Hay Tang, (AKA Halcyon) was only 22 years old. He was with a group of a USC car club on a drive when the accident occurred.

I read one of the posting he started after buying his 993 C2S. It puts a face on the victim. Very sad stuff.
