Clean MAF and throttle body.
Got the engine bay open right now, waiting on a family friend to bring a security torx by. Any suggestion while cleaning MAF sensor and cleaning out the throttle body? E gas 2000 S model. I've read the right ups and some old threads. Any specific pointers?

Don't drop the throttle body on your car while pulling out. Mine was a little slippery from grime and boom.. $100 for PDR.

Just don't freak out when you done, and the engine will not idle steady.
Remember you will have to re calebrate the ECU by driving it for few hundreds miles in different conditions.

The easiest way to recalibrate the throttle body is to
(a) Switch on the ignition (don't start the engine) for +/- 1 minute - you should hear the throttle body adjust.
(b) Switch off ignition & remove key for +/- 10 seconds.
Start car as normal.

So just did all the work, everything is re fastened. Ignigition in for a minuet to adjust throttle valve, heard it click and adjust. There is a high pitch electrical sound though? Is this normal?

I just cleaned my MAF sensor, but not the TB and never heard a high pitched electrical sound. Will it start lol?

Electrical sound like.. buzzzzzzz or errrrrrrrr or eeeeeeee? Mine did a audible eeeeeeee for the first couple starts. went away after.

Starts good. Started right up, good idle..... I have a very squeaky clutch though! Not sure what caused that.

Well clutch squeak is gone. Drove the car ran great..... Parked the car in the garage.... CEL came back on.... Well it drives good.

The original CEL was caused by the MAF sensor which I just cleaned. Not sure what this light is for. In both cases I drove the car, it ran fine, I turned my head to reverse and park, and when I turned my head back the light was on? It drives fine so I'm just gonna run around with the light on for now.

Don't drop the torx keys. Dropped mine never to be found again. Finished up buying another set.

A high pitched whine can be a sign of a bad air oil separator causing an abnormally high vacuum. Have it checked. Unfortunately it is a common problem.

I did this same operation recently and broke the old vent tube from the AOS. Fortunately they are readily available. Phew.

Thanks all, the CEL comming back is a pain, but I think it's unrelated, likely goes back to whatever the original problem was. The car idles high with the clutch depressed. But overall it's driving better.

You need to pull the code. Lots of stuff may or may not be caused by faulty MAF.

Most CELs can be fixed with a simple 1/2" square of black electrical tape, if you know where to apply it.

Be careful though, the emission people have xray vision and can see right through the tape!
