19 Inch Rims will they work ?

Hi, I have a 2002 Boxster and have an option to buy these 19inch rims :

235/35/19 (Front)
275/30/19 (Rear)

Will that work ?

Yes. Given the rim offset is between et40~50 and the rim width is not wider than 10".

If they are in that range, the chances of rubbing is very little. Even if does rub a little, it's an easy fix with a 5~10mm spacer

Any major (MAJOR) issues, just trash the 275s and buy new rears in the 265 series. And you'll be all set

Hi, the front is 8.5 and the rear is 11.

Will that be a problem ?

Also, how do I work out the offset ?

11 won't fit, not without frustrations anyway. You might have to try a whole lot of different tire makes & profiles to get them to fit without very-very wide spacers, may get lucky the first time who knows.

Offsets for the Boxster ranges in the 50~55 for narrower wheels. Not sure how offsets works for eleven inches wheel man sorry

Cant help, maybe someone who've done a 11" conversion may be able to tell you what tires and spacers is needed. Get a clean answer on that set-up before pressing the Pay Now button is my best advice

Yeah forget going 11" on the rears.

I ordered a set of these in from 101tires.com 8.5x19 front 10x19 rear. I'm planning to run 5mm spacers both front and rear. Max Performance Summer Tires 235/35ZR19 front and 275/30ZR19 rear.



I was curious as to how 19" wheels would look, sweeeeet. I don't care for the other crud added to this car though lol.

my 05 boxy s model has 8"w 57mm offset front and 9.5"w 46mm offset rear 19" wheels from the factory. if that helps you any in figuring out what offset you will need to come up with for your setup.

i am looking to change mine to 18"s, and purchased some 18's from a 04 carerra. the rears are going to need a 1 inch spacer for inside clearence with the 10" wide wheels from the carrera.

might effect your fuel economy

Frankly, I think 19's are too big on a 9x6

11s will fit with 275 tires, but the offset has to be PERFECT.

I'm running et35 (rims are et45 with 10mm spacers) with 265 tires and have just enough room with stock fenders to pull off 275s, but 265s are safe with absolutely no rubbing. I have about a credit card of clearance between the wheel and strut.

That looks terrible IMO, sorry.

Why go with 11" wheels when you're running 265 tires? A 10" is perfect for 265 tires and making sure of the offset would look much better and less weight.

I went 19's because I think they look great on 986, plus look at the rotational speed of the tires for 19" wheels.



Find a 18 wheel/tire combo that has close of a rotational speed.

Thought about 20's, but went with 19's. Check out the perfect rotational speed on the 20" rims.

You are half correct 19" are okay on the 986 but NOT if they are "busy rims" e.g. meshed, 10 spokes, etc. They will look dbl-size indeed. I know..... I had them before, can't count how many ppl mentioned about my BIG wheels LOL

The skinny and concave 5 spokes is another story tho Those works in the 19" on the little boxster and look killer

Mine came with 19's, I think they look clean...as some have said it probably depends on wheel type.

Different strokes for different folks and maybe i'm a tad trendy coming from VWs. I always run fat stretched tires in the rear, I like the illusion it adds of making the back look wider. I couldn't care less about weight, it's my daily driver and slow anyway, if I wanted performance I would've spent the extra on an S.

As far as the topic, 19s are about the max that look good on these cars IMO and I think they pull it off really well with the proper drop.

Great looking car with that wheel combo I believe that this german optik is not yet found in the States... Here in europe its almost very common with tuned cars.
I had Z3 coupe with 10,5x17 and 235/40 back

Sits a lot like the Z3 I had about 6 years ago. Looked better after I got flatcaps, but never got pics afterwards. The stretched tire thing is mostly just VWs here, other car communities frown upon it because it "ruins the handling", which I'll agree to an extent, I switched to 17s and properly sized tires on the Z3 and the handling was MUCH better. I can't really tell a difference on my Porsche, it's a little more tail happy, but I'm not complaining.
