Guess I'm confused...my 2000S just has a cable actuated lever for the trunk and frunk....Power is not an issue.

My cable levers have gotten "stuck" in the lock position with dead batt. Not sure if it's normal.

OP: your friend needs to apply 12V+ to both sides of fuse C3 and 12V- to a good ground (door catch). With power connected, close the doors, then lock and unlock the car using the key (not the fob). The levers should now be unlocked

I've heard that a simple 9V battery will do it, but I've never tried.
