I broke the old gasket it was a little hard after the years

It was a tiny bit bigger than the oem hood badge made it a real struggle with the gasket >.<

You're supposed to soak the gasket in hot water prior to installing it to make it slightly larger and more pliable. Doing it cold would indeed be difficult.

Did that, my oem crest fit perfect with the gasket, this one I had to pry a lot with a toothpick

Black & brushed nickel crest installed

I has to use my original gasket as I could not stretch the gasket that came with the crest enough to make it fit. Pleased with the look of the new crest as it gives the car a bit of 'outlaw' look to it. Here are two pics.
