Clunking / mild bang from driveline...? What is it??

Hello! I am a newbie 2001 Boxster S owner. I have an auto / tiptronic trans. It seems when coming out of a corner from a dead stop if I am accelerating I get an occasional bang / clunk out of the driveline. Scares the heck out of me as I am worried about what the heck is going on. It doesn't do it under normal conditions, only when getting on it (couldn't tell you if it does it all the time while accelerating heavily) and when turning.

Has anyone else experienced this or heard of this?

Thanks!!

I'll bet inner CV joints.

My bet is the front motor mount.

Thanks guys! I will take it to my local garage and have them take a look-see. Sounds like it could get costly...

If there is play in the shift lever when throttle is applied then released then reapplied I would guess Motor mount. Not Costly if DIY.145 dollars for the UPDATED version from pelican or you can just replace bushing using old housing 35 bucks.

Check the CV joints. If they're bashed up until they're no longer rebuildable you're looking at a big bill. OEM shafts aren't cheap and the cheap knockoffs don't last.

If your front motor mount has never been done, it's due, trust me. Not too expensive a part nor difficult as a DIY.
