disparate activation of the alarm

hey folks, i have a 01 986 base .... and ive noticed recently, the alarm goes off (when the car is parked/engine off) ..... disparately. There doesnt seem to be a fixed interval ... but it would sometimes just activate.

Im thinking maybe the battery is getting old & weak? Although the car starts perfectly fine.

weird. any thoughts much appreciated.

Have the car scanned with a Porsche specific tool (Durametric, PIWIS, PST II) and it will give you the last ten alarm faults, which should be a good starting point.

I've seen this a couple of times and when read out, it was the radio anti theft wire shorting to ground. Have you been playing with radio lately?

mine does this too
I do have an aftermarket radio but I feel its not the radio anti theft connection, why? because my alarm only acts up during the daytime in the summer
I think its the heat. When I press the remote twice to shut off the infrared sensor this problem goes away

now that you mention it .... it does only happen during the day time ... and its getting freakin hot here in HK ... like 100F .....

so lock button twice will disable the infrared sensor? is there any visual queues to show that its off? i might try that and monitor for a bit.
