INstalled replacement immobilizer; Still won't crank.

2002 Boxster with a water damaged immobilizer....

I had the damaged immobilizer exchanged for a new unit (work done by these guys). Code was matched, and I was told it would be plug & play.

I reinstalled everything, but it still won't crank. I turn the key and...nothing...

The battery has a full charge, and there are no other obvious problems, and I am wondering: Is there something that I should have done, but didn't do that is a normal part of the procedure for reinstalling a new immobilizer? Or is something else going on?

Thanks, as always...

Were they able to recover your key codes from the old immobilizer?

roland3337,

The reason why your Porsche Boxster may not even crank could be a blown fuse which interacts with the Immobilizer.

Check these in your fuse box, and also check the fuse in fron of the Immobilizer itself also. Please call us to help you.

Paul,

Almost 90% of the time we can recover the Coding Data in the Immobilizer to save and reuse the original remote keys when we do an Immobilizer Replacement.

There isn't any special procedure for installing the immobilizer, you just attach the cable and screw it down. Are you sure that the key battery is good and that the remote transmitter is actually in the key? Are you sure that the ECU is matched to the immobilizer and key?

Find someone with a spare set that you can use to install in the car to see if its the key/immobilizer/ECU or something else.

Make sure you are fully depressing the clutch pedal.
