Calgary to Banff/Jasper and Calgary to Glacier National Park

Visiting Calgary next week with family and am planning Calgary to Banff/Jasper and Calgary to Glacier National Park.

Any recommendations on some great drives/scenery other than "Going to the Sun Road"?

I've done those roads on the motorcycle a few times already including the Columbia ice field and from Banff all the way to Vancouver.... you guys are lucky to be so close to the Rockies :-) I hate rough roads too, but the scenery certainly makes up for it :-)

Thanks for the tip - maybe I need to rent an SUV and not a car (I always rent cars and not SUVs)

I know this is not TripAdvisor - But would be fun to know any must-see places in these areas - Got to keep the boys engaged for 5 full days!

oh, ok. unbearable in a boxster - ok in just about anything else. I was thinking 'driving roads'. Banff, lake Louise and Jasper are all national parks and have lots of support for visitors. websites are crappy (slow-moving federal government and fast-moving new-media do not work well together) but lots of third-party info and websites.

there's a new thing on the icefields parkway where you walk out on a glass-bottomed viewing platform - supposed to be quite cool. lots of little stops - johnsons canyon, Columbia icefields, overlander falls, etc., and three ski hills where you can take ski lifts op to the top and get some good views. if you are more adventurous there's rafting, via ferratta, and rock climbing (check out yamnuska).
