3.2 Engine selling for?

Well, car is totalled. So I'm trying to figure out if I should keep or sell my engine and whatever else is left from the car. How much is a 05 3.2 and tranny with a almost a year old clutch worth? RMS, IMS, and WP was changed at time of clutch job also. Are the seats worth anything after the air bags has been deployed? Thanks in advance guys.

Get some video and sound clips of the car with date to show operating condition before dismantling. Video or photo your odometer as well, this should improve the resale. Transmissions are going $700 to $1500 on ebay and motors from $2500 to $7500. This is dependent on mileage.

If you have receipts for the ims or anything you can be reimbursed at least partially from insurance as part of the supplement. Salvage value is pretty high on the 987 so it might be hard to turn profit.

In my experience of searching E-bay for 3.2 engines (3years) values are as follows:

$5,000 for a good running 3.2L, 5 chain engine ready to install & drive.

$6,000 for a good running 3.2L, 3 chain engine ready to install & drive

$1,000 additional value for good documentation such as lower mileage, wrecked car donor

+$1,000 additional if the engine is still in the car so you can start engine & hear it run. This is the only "Warranty" you can count on.

Thanks for the replies guys. I like MY engine. I know whats been going on with it since I had the car. Trust this more than any other engine. Thinking maybe buying a car with same mileage and swapping in mine and selling the other? This is so much better than the unknown.

Bypro Would 50K still be considered low mileage? I would think so but there are other cars out there with far less, I've been looking.

Jsceash, definately need to make that video. Was thinking about that. I have a couple I made when I put the exhaust last november when I put the exhaust on. That was 48k miles ago.

Jake, I know you've been where I'm at unfortunately. Got all my paper work turned in today though. Can you tell me how much they gave you for your car ballpark? PM me if you like. This is the final deciding factor of course for me. Would like to have my engine even as a pet project of some sorts.

I am assuming that you can't start the engine or drive it to demo the transmission. If that is correct, then there is no way to prove that the engine or transmission wasn't damaged.

In these cases (you are selling "as is"), buyers have to assume the worst and will either ask for a warranty or a price reduction since they are taking all of the risk.

I'd seriously pursue this option, Randy. It seems to fit your bill perfectly.

Just sayin'...........
