CLU coding?

If I purchase a new central locking unit for my 2001 Boxster Base do I still need the dealership to code it even if I manually unlock the doors exclusively? thanks

The ignition key needs to be programed to the security module else you will not be able to start the car. The dealer will have the equipment to do that.

The door locks can be opened manually regardless though.

Thanks that helps!

Might as well get new keys made too as the two I have no longer function. Feels like about a $1500 dealership visit before It is said and done.
