Interior door handle problem HELP!

So just got done detailing the car and took it for a quick spin. Got back all jazzed and ready to take a break. I pull the handle to open the door and feel a pop. Open up the car door and noticed that the handle to open the door is flopping around. If I close the door, the window stays open 1/4" to clear the top but doesn't go back up all the way. Can't arm the car. If I go back inside the car, close the door and push the handle inward, the window goes back up and I can arm the car.

So I'm thinking its a micro switch somewhere. Does anyone know which part this might be?

there is a spring inside the door that broke. happened to me. instead of ordering a new one, i was able to fix mine. but you have to pull off the internal door frame to access it. i can't remember exactly how to do it. but that is likely your problem too. good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I opened it up and yes, it's the spring. My spring broke on the long straight end right at the hook to attach it to the handle. Did you just create a new hook? If so, how long has it been holding up for you?

I've changed these out .
Less than 30 minutes work and about 3 bucks for a new spring .

yes, i just bent it to create a new hook and it has lasted me over a year now. good luck

Oh, the shame! I've been driving around with a little folded piece of paper wedged behind the door handle for 2 years now. Finally got a new spring a couple of weeks ago, probably will take months before I have time to install it.
BTW, should I disconnect the battery to prevent being attacked by the side airbag?
