Look into this website GoFundMe: #1 for Crowdfunding & Fundraising Websites. I've seen people post on there for some pretty outrageous reasons. Might work a little better

I am selling an idea am I not? The idea of a kick starter is a pitch. Now would I personally spend some money on this, likely not, but would it make me smile to see a Volvo with a bunch of names written on the dash at cars and coffee, I sure would.

I'd actually rather give you a few bucks towards your car than give money to every store that asks me if I want to donate to the children at checkout. Who are these "children" you want me to donate to I ask the person running the register? A blank look is all they can usually produce. At least with you I know where my donation would be going.

Or you could at least consider checking charity navigator, assuming you cared. They only award 4-stars to charities that, among other things, dedicate $0.85 of every dollar donated to programs. Since you asked, Oldsmobile Delta 88. And, no I wasn't doing international business ventures. I bought and sold comics and baseball cards and invested in stocks (which started when I was a few years younger than Jake, thank you very much). Aside from working as a minor for my parents (started at minimum wage) and getting my first job at 15 and 10 months (earliest age to get working papers), I worked multiple jobs, saved, and invested and learned to capitalize "I" in sentences at a much earlier age than Jake. And now, if you'll permit me a question, you rage against bit coin... do you use credit cards? I mean, what's credit anyway, old man? Is it any more tangible?

Jake asked for opinions and mine is that I think this is stupid, but not as stupid as the thread with the guy who hates cats rallying over claw marks in soft tops. Furthermore, I don't think Jake understands what marketing is.

Thank you. That was very helpful. I often think that the stores are more padding their own pockets than actually giving to the less fortunate.

On another note. Jake asking for money to buy a car so he doesn't have to drive his Porsche to school is so far out there that it just might work

I wish it were more complete, but alas they are also a 501(c)(3). Of note, they do also cite some charities that have violations. Having said that, those change boxes can mean up to $2000-$3000 annually, depending on the number and distribution. As a general donation, these type help nonprofits as the money is not restricted and can be spend on things like administration, salaries... basically anything.

I caddied for a local golf course at 12 (yeah, either the laws were different, or they needed caddies). Was in the lowest rate group and got the smallest tips. Us little ones were always the last picked if picked at all. :ah: Had my own leaf raking and then snow blowing business after that. And what is that bit about "rage over bit coin"? If I were raging there would be lots of extra punctuation, capitol letters, and maybe a troll or two. :troll: :troll:

Never said I was special. Just someone that worked, has respect for punctuation and grammar, and willing to calls 'em as I sees 'em. However, I will say, that when I was Jake's age, I don't think I had as many "delusions of grandeur" as the scruffy nerf herder hipster doofus.
