And exactly what type of car were you driving at Jake's age, and precisely what international business ventures were you creating? (good thing for the internet or that whole "international business ventures" thing wouldn't fly). Jake seems to be doing ok, not what I would do, but then again, I'm way too busy shaking my cane. Folks are investing in fake money called "bit coin" now, paying real money for pretend "swords of power" or the like in video games. Heck a name in an old Volvo at least has ink, for those still stuck on material goods. And interestingly kids nowadays don't want material goods, say a CD, they don't want the physical item. They want the electronic music file. Less to carry around I guess.

Since you asked, Oldsmobile Delta 88. And, no I wasn't doing international business ventures. I bought and sold comics and baseball cards and invested in stocks (which started when I was a few years younger than Jake, thank you very much). Aside from working as a minor for my parents (started at minimum wage) and getting my first job at 15 and 10 months (earliest age to get working papers), I worked multiple jobs, saved, and invested and learned to capitalize "I" in sentences at a much earlier age than Jake. And now, if you'll permit me a question, you rage against bit coin... do you use credit cards? I mean, what's credit anyway, old man? Is it any more tangible?

Jake asked for opinions and mine is that I think this is stupid, but not as stupid as the thread with the guy who hates cats rallying over claw marks in soft tops. Furthermore, I don't think Jake understands what marketing is.

I caddied for a local golf course at 12 (yeah, either the laws were different, or they needed caddies). Was in the lowest rate group and got the smallest tips. Us little ones were always the last picked if picked at all. :ah: Had my own leaf raking and then snow blowing business after that. And what is that bit about "rage over bit coin"? If I were raging there would be lots of extra punctuation, capitol letters, and maybe a troll or two. :troll: :troll:

As a marketing initiative, this is exceedingly weak. I'd be shocked if you receive any donations. Let me explain:

• What exactly are you "marketing?"
• As far as I can figure out, you are giving people the opportunity to aid you in getting a car, and in return for doing so, they get their name added to the car's dash

This is a pathetic job of marketing, plus I'm sure you'll turn off many potential contributors by telling about your poor ruined Boxster. To the average person logging onto the gofundme page, you're just a spoiled kid with a confused story and a half-assed pitch for donations.

I have had many people say this but i feel explaining the previous car and mentioning that it is replaced is necessary for the sake of honesty. I am already having people essentially buy me a car, I want to mention why i want it and such. If i just said oh wah wah i had a nice car it was wrecked i could never replace it, i found this cheap car but i like it, then yeah some people would feel sorry for me, but that is not what i want. I simply want a bit of an art project, a car with a neat story at the end and such. I could just say i like these volvos, help me buy one and get your name on and things would go better, but that isnt quite right with my conscious.

I'm VP Marketing for a global company. 35+ years B2B and B2C experience. Ad copy, product literature, even gofundme pitches need to be well written and compelling. Yours doesn't quite measure up. If you were to rewrite it, what changes would you make?
