Being a unique color it caught my eye, but I honestly wouldn't have paid anymore for it. (But if it was a "normal" colored car, I wouldn't have bought it - so the color did make the sale.)
It's hard to tell - there are so many 986 cars available, that unless you find a real knucklehead like me that lusts for the unusual, the average buyer won't care about the rarity of the color, only that they do/don't like the color (and what their wife/girlfriend has to say about it).

So you are saying, not "rare" but "medium well" then

Well, um, err, uh... 5 Boxsters.
-2 1999's - the one above and a triple black (64k miles)
- 2000 2.7 (87k miles)- "The Slut" Silver w/ Boxster Red interior. She's my daily driver morphing into a DE/Autocross car.
- 2001 S (34k miles) - Guards Red w/ black interior
- 2002 S (74k miles) - Silver/gray interior
And, um, err...
- 1999 996 C4 black w/Boxster Red interior w/ factory aerokit - 84K miles
- 1990 944S2 cabriolet black/linen interior - 64K original miles - garage queen
^ those are all the drivers.
Projects:
- 3 1984 928S (they were/are my dream Porsche - just have to get them all together. Red/black interior, red, 2-tone brown interior and Pewter silver/burgundy interior)
- 1971 914 orange/black interior
That's 11. Sounds like a lot, but all together the cost is about 1/2 of what a new turbo 911 costs, and I know several guys with those. Or, a new 3/4 ton 4x4 truck, a boat, and a Harley, and every other $30k/yr redneck around here has that combo.
Plus I'm on the hunt for a 97-99 Boxster for a Spec racer. And a few other color combo Boxsters I want; Zanzibar Red/black, and Rain Forest Green/Boxster Red.
I've been driving/collecting Porsches for 30 years. I have a 30x60 shop and a big garage.
***Jake and the younger guys take notice - here's a math formula - (good education+good job-wife-kids) = You can have all the toys you want.
Here's my 2002S on the track a few weeks ago:
I'll hunt up some more pictures.

Yep, look up "djlomas" from Chicago.

I remember this car well. He did some really nice mods/writeups and was a great photog.

I saw ocean jade with nephrite green interior. Talk about a rare color combo.

The car in this ad might be the same color as the OP's. The lighting appears to be off in the pictures - so I cannot tell positively.

Oops, forgot about OP and the color. Yes, it is an extremely rare find/color! Anything rare (in terms of color) has a greater level of appreciation for me.

OP, that's DJ's car for sure.
He put his heart and soul into that car. Took a zillion pics of it for the forum too because he was an amateur photographer.
You would have to be a forum member from five or eight years back to see these though. Not sure if they're still posted here.

Yes, indeed, to all of the above.
And yes, they're still posted, except you guys can't find him because your spelling's off a wee bit...it's not "djlomas", it's "djomlas". Check it out:

There is one locally here the same color
but without the hardtop and aftermarket rims (just 16's) but it is a very nice looking color on the cars.

Funny that car looks MUCH better in the sun. Here is one I found for sale in the UK with the trend package and a bit about it...

ocean jade metallic
There were 47 1998 Boxsters in Ocean Jade Metallic. It was a $805 option, de-badged. I own one with about 125K miles.
