Can't agree more. I've done the UDP and test pipe which nets maybe 10 hp. The same money on my last car, a 2011 GTI, netted me 50 hp. Turbo cars and ECU tunes net cheap hp. If you want 300 hp and still have a Porsche your best option is a 996 otherwise as other have pointed out it get real expensive.
