101 Projects for your Porsche Boxster by Wayne Dempsey

Does anyone have this book ? And if so is it useful and informative ? Is it worth buying ? Is it easy to follow along to accomplish the project ?

I have it and the Bentley manual. Wayne's book is great for modest diy work.I don't know of a better one.But don't expect it to walk you through an engine rebuild for example.

Garage
Even if you do you own oil changes, cabin filter change and engine air filter change it pays for itself in no time flat.
Cheers, Guy.

It's a must have along with the Bentley manual.

I had a copy on the way before I got my car home. It has helped me immeasurably with becoming familiar with the car.

Step one is how to jack the boxster up safely without hurting it. Handy to know because it would seem that most tasks are performed from underneath.

If you are experienced with turning wrenches (I am) and can read between the lines you can use the pictures and instructions in some of the tasks to complete other tasks.

For example I bled my clutch, took apart my failed parking brake and am going to adjust my shift cables - none of them specific tasks in the book but are related to tasks that are in the book enough to allow you to grasp the project.

Money well spent I would say

I have also considered the Bentley Manual. If I were to buy only 1 of them to start off which would you recommend ?

Depends

On your experience and ability to wrench, if you have done quite a bit of wrenching buy the Bentley ....if you are new to working on cars buy the 101 Book

Get the 101 book first. Even if you can wrench, its like a quick start manual.

I have two copies of 101 - one for the workshop (full of greasy fingerprints) and one (clean copy) for inside the house to plan the next project!

I also have the Bentley manual. And an electronic set of the Porsche factory manuals. And a Bosch fuel injection manual.

I think that I have a problem...

Thanks guys. I'll start with the 101 book. I'm not mechanically inclined but now I have lots of free time and want to learn as both a hobby and a money saver.
