All season tires inherently limit the car's handling and steering.

In order for them to be good in winter, they need to shave that margin off during spring/summer.

What it takes back for spring/summer performance you lose during winter.

The tire is trying to do two very different things at once, as a result compromises are magnified in a car of this sort.

Your running a tire that has 540AA tread wear rating. The tires that came on the car stock were Extreme performence summer withs a 220 AA rating. This is a winter/all-season type with a low temp rating compound. This is a tire that was designed for a SUV weighing in at about 4000#

You could change every suspension part on your car and still not be able to flex this tire to get performance in a 3000# sport convertible.

Thanks for all the inputs, DWS were my winter tires so I guess I shouldn't expect too much performance out of them. Time to put on my 19" summer shoes!
